DREW CONTINUES HIS WINNING WAYS PDF Print E-mail

Anderson Speedway July 20, 2008 - The Kenyon Midgets were back at the high banks of Anderson Speedway and Drew was ready to race! Hot laps saw Drew again near the top of the speed charts with the second fastest practice time only .002 seconds behind the fastest car.

Many times we qualify at Anderson and that would be the case tonight. As the first car took to the track is was obvious there has been a major oil down as the oil dry dust flew almost all the way around the track. By the draw Drew went out 4th and the results were the same as the first three, skating around the track on the oil dry is not the fasted way around Anderson. The result was a 4th place qualifying run which would later turn out to be the pole for the feature as the field is set by qualifying at Anderson and the invert pill draw was a 4.

The heat race saw a continuance of last week as Drew started in the fourth position, then on a the first lap with a super move, he shot his Kenyon Midget up to the second position behind one of the fast rookies. She wasn’t fast enough for Drew however as he sized the loose rookie up and in a few laps took it to the low side and blew by to take the win.

The nature of the USAC revert doesn’t give Drew many chances to start on the pole as the fast qualifiers are usually sent back to the second, third or fourth row. But Drew did not waste this unusual opportunity as he raced inside the second place points car of Caleb Armstrong for a lap on the bottom then took the lead to capture all 30 laps of the feature with a quarter of a lap cushion at the drop of the checkered flag. This makes 4 feature wins and two second place finishes out of 8 races run for Drew in his Aluma Trailers, Century 21 Master Key Realty, Amsoil, Impact Racing Kenyon Midget. Drew added another 7 points to his Championship points lead.
