It was a busy two weeks for Drew the last week in June and the first week in July although there was 9 days off racing at the 4th of July summer break. On June 24th it was a ½ hour radio show appearance at WCSM in Celina, Ohio, then on to racing at Mt. Lawn Speedway June 25th where while racing for the lead on the outside in the feature, he got slammed into the wall and finished last. On June 27th it was on to Anderson Speedway for the last race before the 4th of July break, only to get rained out, then it was to St. Mary’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep July 28th for an appearance at their annual car show. Sunday July 29th it was on to North Carolina where Drew had an interview with Bill Davis Racing on Monday June 30th and then to Penske Racing July 1st. Those teams had awesome facilities and great people. It was such an honor and pleasure to see their operations and interview with both teams. On July 2nd it was back home to New Bremen, then on to Iowa to visit one set of grandparents, visit our friends and sponsor at Aluma Trailers in Bancroft, Iowa, and finally get some rest and relaxation and jet skiing at Uncle Mark and Aunt Lucretia’s lake cabin. On July 7th it was on the way back home with a stop in Milwaukee to look at some racing equipment. On July 8th Drew got one day of work in at the family business and that night prepared the USAC Midget for the next day’s race at Anderson Speedway. Anderson Speedway July 9th On lap 22 Drew finally cleared the #17 Dalton Armstrong car to try to chase down the leader who had by this time stretched out a 20 car length lead. There was no catching the 15 Jeff Wimmenauer car as he cruised to an easy win with Drew pulling away from the pack to finish second. This put Drew back in the USAC Kenyon Championship Point lead by 2 over Caleb Armstrong with 4 wins and three second place finishes out of the 10 races run so far this year. Now for the biggest challenge ever for Drew and team -- getting sponsorship to take to one of the major teams he is interviewing with to take him to the next levels, ARCA and NASCAR! We will keep you all informed as things progress and thanks for everyone’s support!!
